Call for Proposals

Invitation for abstract submission was closed on 1 January 2017.  Notification of abstract acceptance will be provided on 27 January 2017.  For your interest, details of the aim and sub-themes of the conference are provided below.

 

The Centre for Applied English Studies will host an international conference from 1 to 3 June 2017.

The conference theme is FACES OF ENGLISH 2: TEACHING AND RESEARCHING ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL ENGLISH. The conference aims to provide a platform for academics, researchers, practitioners and research students from around the world to discuss issues related to academic and professional English. 

The conference will feature individual papers, colloquia, workshops, demonstration sessions and poster displays that address any topics relevant to sub-themes which include:

Genre

Pedagogy

Planning and Policy

Research Methods and Methodology

 

There are FIVE types of presentations, namely

 

1.   Paper presentation (20-minute presentation + 5-minute Q & A, 1-3 presenters)

       Present on-going or completed research results

2.  Workshop (50 minutes, 1-4 presenters)

       A hands-on session to address a topic

3.  Colloquium (50 minutes, 3-6 presenters)

       Present a topic (minimum 3 panel members) and discuss it with participants

4.  Demonstration session (15 minutes, 1-3 presenters)

       Present and share innovative and practical ideas or teaching materials with participants   

5.  Poster display (1 hour, 1-2 presenters)

       Display on-going or completed research results on a notice board and answer participants’ questions

 

Important Dates:

                        Deadline for submission of abstract: 1 January 2017

                        Notification of abstract acceptance: 27 January 2017

                        Presenter/Early bird registration and payment deadline: 1 March 2017

                        Notification of presentation schedule: 15 April 2017

                        Online registration and payment deadline: 8 May 2017

 

Publications:

A selection of contributions presented at the conference may be invited for publication in an edited book volume intended for an international publisher. Papers which have a focus on ESP/EAP in Asia may be considered for a special issue of the Asian Journal of Applied Linguistics. Further information will be available in due course.
