Enrollment Procedure & Course Exemption
1. Enrollment Procedure
Students must take ACE in their first year of studies. They can choose either the standard mode or the intensive mode.
The add/drop periods for the intensive mode will be announced via email. You can refer to the quick guide on the selection of ACE intensive mode.
For the standard mode, the add/drop periods will follow the Important Academic Dates. Please note that these dates can vary each academic year.
First-year undergraduate students must enroll in either mode of the course CAES1001 if they have attained Level 3 or Level 4 in English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE) (or equivalent) in the same year in which they are admitted to the University.
CAES1001 course is optional for students who achieved Level 5 or above in English Language in HKDSE (or equivalent) in the same year in which they are admitted to the University. Such students may take ACE as an elective on a non-credit bearing basis.
CAES1001 timetables are available in the SIS system.

2. Course Exemption
If you have questions about the course exemption, please contact your home Faculty. Your exemption status will be confirmed only after you receive a confirmation from your Faculty. Until then, you should enroll in CAES1001 and attend the classes.
