Najat’s PhD thesis is based on the input processing theory. She is investigating the effectiveness of a pedagogical intervention called the structured input activity in helping L1 Arabic learners of English process the Englich passive causative form. She is also comparing its effectiveness with another pedagogical intervention called the structured output activity. In the main studies’ experiment Najat used online measurements to assess the participants. An online measurement is an advanced assessing method. Due to its ability to detect the L2 learners’ moment by moment processing. Such as detecting the reading times and reaction times in a self-paced reading test. Moreover, Najat has investigated the effectiveness of structured input activities while pursuing her master’s degree, and she has reached very good results.

Najat has experience in teaching and translating. As she worked as a translator in the Foreign Relations Department at the Ministry of Social Affairs in Kuwait. She translated contracts, CVs, letters and other documents from ministries, banks, international organisations and embassies from English to Arabic and from Arabic to English. Furthermore, Najat worked as a teacher. She was keen on improving the L2 learners’ processing of their second language (English) by implementing a communicative approach in teaching, providing the L2 learners with effective pedagogical interventions. Regarding online teaching, Najat has experience in teaching online.
