Greg earned his PhD in Applied Linguistics from the University of Hong Kong, where his PhD research examined language instructors’ professional development within English-in-the-Discipline (ED) courses, with a particular focus on engineering. His research upholds the centrality of disciplinary knowledge in cross-disciplinary teaching contexts, and his publications and conference papers address the nuances of teaching disciplinary communication across engineering, science, dentistry, and education.
Before joining CAES, he delivered TESOL coursework for English language majors and school teachers in Taiwan, alongside specialized English communication programs for corporate and engineering professionals. At The Chinese University of Hong Kong, he taught EAP/ESP courses and coordinated the English through Food elective. He also supported postgraduate students with academic presentation skills, assisted MA students in Buddhist Studies with book-review writing, and delivered intercultural competence training for administrative staff.
At CAES, he teaches the foundation EAP and ED courses for engineering and science students, supervises MAAL dissertations and portfolios, co-delivers an MAAL workshop on English across the Disciplines, and coordinates the Service-Learning / Nurturing Global Leaders (NGL) programme. His research centers on ESP/CLIL teacher development, English across the curriculum, and EAP/ESP pedagogy within EMI contexts. He also contributes to the broader scholarly community as a paper reviewer for SSCI- and SCOPUS-indexed journals, such as Computers & Education, Innovations in Education and Teaching International, Asian Journal of Applied Linguistics, and Taiwan Journal of TESOL.
