Vickie completed her PhD in Curriculum Studies at Western University in Canada. Her doctoral research examines the English learning experiences of post-secondary students in Hong Kong. Vickie has extensive experience in teaching academic English at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Prior to joing CAES, Vickie taught EAP courses at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She was also the coordinator of a postgraduate thesis writing course. Vickie has led research projects on the enhancement of students’ academic English skills through the development of a corpus to support postgraduate students’ thesis writing as well as the revamping of an independent language learning centre. Her recent project focuses on postgraduate students’ use of GenAI in academic writing.
Vickie’s research interests lie in the area of second language education, learner identity, bilingualism and multilingualism.
