Dr. David Gardner

David’s teaching experience spans EFL, ESP and EAP as well as TEFL for trainee teachers, applied linguistics at master’s level and PhD supervision. He has taught at secondary and tertiary levels in France, Saudi Arabia, England, Thailand and Hong Kong, and has consulted on self-access projects in Mexico, Indonesia, Taiwan and Hong Kong. At HKU, he has coordinated Self-Access Learning, English for Computer Science students and English for Science students as well as serving as Associate Director for 6 years. His research interests include self-access learning and computer-assisted learning. He has authored and edited a number of books as well as contributed articles to professional journals and books. He is co-author (with Lindsay Miller) of Establishing Self-Access: From Theory to Practice (Cambridge University Press), and Managing Self-access Language Learning (City University Press); editor of Fostering Autonomy in Language Learning (Zirve); and editor of the Asian Journal of Applied Linguistics.
