Prior to The University of Hong Kong, Sumie has been teaching a variety of EAP and ESP courses in The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and City University of Hong Kong, which include English for Academic Purposes, Engineering English, Shakespeare, Film and Humanities courses. Her research areas are teaching and learning in relation to Literature in English, Comparative Literature and Drama inter-culturally.
