Myths and Realities

1. Self-assessments should primarily highlight all of your weaknesses and failures so that your employer would forgive you.
2. You should be humble and modest in your self-assessment when describing your strengths.
3. You should refrain from making complaints about your job duties, salary, or coworkers in your self-assessment.
4. You should use third person narrative when writing your self-assessment to keep the neutrality.
5. Leave the professional development plan in the appraisal. You do not have to write anything concerning your development plan in the self-assessment as it is just an evaluative document.
6. Use casual language when writing your self-assessment. Spoken language in written text is acceptable.
