Aims<\/h3>\n

The aims of this elective course are to:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. introduce participants to the fundamental principles of language testing and language test evaluation<\/li>\n
  2. develop skills in the design, trialling, moderation and validation of testing instruments for a range of purposes including formative and summative assessments<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs)<\/h3>\n

    Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to:<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. describe and discuss a range of contexts, purposes and methods for language testing<\/li>\n
    2. discuss and critique the appropriacy and usefulness of various tools, including GenAI, for language testing and assessment<\/li>\n
    3. plan and critique test development process and administration<\/li>\n
    4. report, reflect and consider the impact of assessment results on teaching and learning<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      1. Poster presentation (25%; individual)<\/li>\n
      2. Portfolio (50%; group) & reflective essay (25%; individual)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

         <\/p>\n

        GenAI Policy<\/h3>\n

        Poster assessment: encouraged to use GenAI
        \nPortfolio assessment: encouraged \/ required
        \nReflective essay: restrictive use of GenAI (only for polishing language and proofreading)<\/p>\n
