Other CSS Events Throughout the Year CAES Communication Support Services (CSS) offer a variety of one-to-one consultations, workshops and discussions to help UGC- funded students succeed at HKU, and to support their development as communicators beyond the university. In the 2022-2023 academic year, CSS delivered all services primarily in face-to-face mode, but with students having the option to choose Zoom delivery for one-to-one consultations. The use of CSS services is self-directed and voluntary. CSS Communication Advisors and Peer Consultants continued to produce promotional videos to help students make the most of our services. Four new promotional videos were produced and published through campus TV, mass emails, and social media in the 2022-2023 academic year. CSS Communication Advisors also provided direct support to courses through the production and/or delivery of the following: • Online Micro-course: How to Film • Online Micro-course: Presentation Delivery • Online Micro-course: Reflective Writing • In-course Workshop - Presentations Skills for CCHU9080: Dead People’s Things: Excavating the Past with Archaeology In the first semester, a team of three full-time Communication Advisors, three full-time CAES teachers and 34 part-time Peer Consultants delivered one-to-one and group activity support for speaking and writing. The standard length for all consultations was 30 minutes and students were able to upload their work prior to booked sessions for Peer Consultants’ review. Semester 1 Semester 2 In the second semester, the CSS team consisted of two full-time Communication Advisors and three full-time CAES teachers, while the team of part-time Peer Consultants grew to 39.
