CAES has renewed its overall committee structure and set up a new Engagement, Research and Innovation Committee (ERIC). In addition, two working groups have been formed to develop effective strategies for enterprise and scholarship. Our scholarship- informed teaching environment continues to benefit staff, students and a wide range of local and global communities. Our broad and inclusive approach to scholarship recognises and supports the development of effective and impactful pedagogies, and leads to the enhancement of opportunities for learners. It also highlights our engagement in reflective practice. CAES made appropriate plans to develop an effective mentorship programme to roll out during the 2021-2022 academic year. The new mentoring programme will be an important instrument to promote professional development, to enhance personal well-being and to foster a learning culture which is beneficial to everyone in our Centre. Colleagues in CAES have continued to provide language support to develop language and literacies skills among all UGC-funded students. The quality of our teaching is reflected in our students’ achievements and the excellent feedback we have received. Communication Support Services (CSS) have provided support to over 4,240 students, deploying UGC-funded undergraduate and postgraduate students as peer consultants. Our CSS Peer Consultants and Communication Advisors have also produced high quality promotional videos that have been disseminated through campus TV, mass emails, and social media. CAES has also continued to provide courses, workshops and consultation services to more than 1,000 research postgraduate students, receiving very positive student feedback. Our Specially-funded EnglishCourses (SFEC) continue to offer courses, workshops and support to a wide audience across staff and students at The University of Hong Kong (HKU). 01
